The Story Behind the DLS Porsche Painting and the Art of Calculated Risk

Singer Porsche 911 DLS
An Idea Sparked by a Phrase
It all began with the phrase “No Risk. No Porsche.” — it instantly set the tone for the entire piece.
For the collector, it’s a life philosophy; for me, a creative spark.
I envisioned it as a continuation of the iconic painting “Hurricane”, but with a new hero — the Porsche 911 DLS, caught in a dynamic drift, surrounded by dust and raw motion, with a bold, charismatic slogan embedded in the scene.

A Message Within the Motion
One of the key innovations in this piece was the decision to integrate the handwritten phrase “No Risk. No Porsche.” into the composition itself.
For the first time in my work, the text wasn’t a caption — it became part of the scene, emerging from the motion.
The phrase mirrored the collector’s worldview: a life shaped by deliberate, calculated decisions. That message became the heartbeat of the artwork.

Shaping the Vision Together
I suggested adding a surfboard — a symbol of adventure and risk.
But the collector preferred to preserve the purity of the Porsche’s design, explaining that his path is about calculated risk without chaos, like a precise drift.
That conversation helped us focus on what mattered most: clean form, motion, and control.
We chose to keep the Porsche 911 DLS free of extra elements to highlight its flawless lines and spirit of speed.

From Hurricane to the Horizon
This painting was designed to carry the spirit of “Hurricane” forward into a new setting.
The collector opted for a 90×60 cm horizontal format — ideal for his space.
The scene would unfold in the desert: a vast, minimalistic environment with dust, light, and wind. Nothing to distract. Just the car, the motion, and the raw space around it.
14 Sketches — Searching for the Perfect Balance
I strive for perfection and continue refining until the scene begins to breathe. For this painting, I created 14 sketches, each with its own dynamic, angle, and rhythm.
The collector liked several options, and in the end, suggested combining the best of two:
— the car from Sketch #10, with a strong front-facing stance and dramatic wheel turn,
— the environment from Sketch #11, with a swirling dust cloud and distinctive radial motion lines.
This led to the final composition — energetic, precise, and cinematic, perfectly capturing the spirit of the painting.

The Painting Process: A Personal Story
This piece became personal for me as well.
Porsche is my dream. Like the collector, I chose risk — I left architecture behind to pursue the art of speed.
Working on this painting reminded me why I chose this path.
I used my signature technique — charcoal and acrylic — with a black-and-white palette, emphasizing contrast, motion, and detail.
Each brushstroke wasn’t just part of a picture — it was a feeling, precise and emotional, built for movement.
The Result: A Philosophy in Motion
The finished work is more than just a depiction of a car.
It is a visual expression of character — of freedom, precision, and inner composure.
Every line, every trace of dust reflects the mindset of a Porsche owner — confidence in the chosen path and complete harmony with motion.
